Looking towards the boathouse from the end of the 

bridge, the salt pans are on the left.

The salt pans. Salt was produced by evaporation, apparently 

initially using the sun but later using clay vessels.

The remains of the Salt House. This apparently stood until the 1970's This embankment, which formerly enclosed a large amount of farmland (on the right)  ran for over a mile. It was breached in 1954 and never repaired

Not a particularly clear picture, but it shows the embankment looking towards the quay in 1983.
